State Announces $250M in Career Pathways Trust Grants

Senate President Pro tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson have announced a request for applications for funding from the California Career Pathways Trust. The purpose of these competitive grants is to create innovative programs and partnerships linking rigorous academic standards to career pathways in high-need and high-growth sectors, such as health care. Although hospitals are not eligible to apply directly for funding, CHA members may have educational partners interested in collaborating on a proposal due to the high-growth, high-demand nature of the health care sector.

Grants as high as $15 million may be awarded to large regional projects. Letters of intent are due Feb. 14, with final applications due March 28. More information about this funding opportunity is available on the California Department of Education’s funding web page at
