Senate Votes to Begin Debate on Repealing, Replacing ACA
Final outcome uncertain

This afternoon, the U.S. Senate agreed to begin debate on legislation to repeal, replace or repair the Affordable Care Act. Vice President Pence was called in to break the 50-50 tie vote. Republican Sens. Murkowski (AK) and Collins (ME) were the only two Republicans to vote no. California Sens. Feinstein and Harris voted no. Now, the Senate will begin 20 hours of debate, during which time many amendments will be offered and considered. The final outcome of the Senate’s deliberation is difficult to predict. CHA will continue to monitor the process and will provide further updates in CHA News.
