Sen. Boxer Provides Update on Letter to Improve Patient Safety

Sen. Barbara Boxer sent a letter to hospitals last week about preventing medical errors and improving patient safety. The letter is a follow-up to the letter she sent in February, which requested that hospitals respond to a survey on medical errors and provide an update on progress in patient safety. Sen. Boxer notes that 90 percent of hospitals responded to her first letter and encourages them to continue to update her as additional progress is made. Hospitals that did not originally respond may still do so by emailing medicalerrorprevention@boxer.senate.gov. Sen. Boxer has also summarized findings from the original survey in a staff report, available at www.boxer.senate.gov/en/press/related/Medical_Errors_NovemberUpdate.pdf
