SAMHSA to Release Suicide Prevention App in January

The Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will release a new, free mobile app designed to encourage professional development in suicide prevention. The app, called Suicide Safe, was created to help behavioral health providers integrate suicide prevention strategies into their practice and reduce suicide risk among their patients. Suicide Safe is based on SAMHSA’s Suicide Assessment Five-Step Evaluation and Triage Card and offers providers clinical education and support resources, a health treatment services locator, interactive sample cases and more. The app will be available in January 2015. For more information, visit http://store.samhsa.gov/apps/suicidesafe/?WT.ac=EB_20141124_suicidesafe.
