RWJF Report Examines Roles of Primary Care Nurses

A new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) examines health care delivery models that broaden nursing roles to address primary care challenges. According to the report, these innovative models emphasize care coordination, and the use of interprofessional teams and information technology. Some of the models include payment reforms that remove barriers to allow nurses to practice to the full extent of their training. The report, Implementing the IOM Future of Nursing Report–Part III: How Nurses Are Solving Some of Primary Care’s Most Pressing Challenges, is part of an RWJF series on implementing the 2010 Institute of Medicine report on The Future of Nursing.
