This year’s Rural Health Care Symposium, March 13-15 in Sacramento, will focus on the future of health care and transition strategies for hospitals. A special working session will explain the five “Transforming for Tomorrow” health care delivery models developed by Deloitte Consulting to help hospitals prepare to meet change and thrive in California’s unique environment. The workshop will explore the five models — Aggregator, Health Manager, Connector, Innovator and Diversifier — and help executives understand the core competencies and strategies needed to deliver health care in new ways.

Keynote for this year’s event is Ian Morrison, international speaker and health care futurist. He will analyze the changing business of health care and share his vision of the future for rural providers. Other session highlights include an update from California Health and Human Services Secretary Diana Dooley on the state’s progress toward Affordable Care Act implementation and California’s health benefit exchange, managed Medi-Cal and dual eligibles. Sessions on planning for market-driven health care, the link between staff productivity and patient satisfaction, and the unexpected benefits of implementing an electronic health record system round out the program.
