PRRB Imposes New Requirements for Pending Appeals

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Hearings last week released an alert directed at hospitals with appeals pending before the Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB). The CMS Alert requires hospitals to provide the PRRB with certain information by July 22 so that it can determine whether it has jurisdiction over the issue of the Medicaid-eligible days. The alert has potential implications for all Medicare disproportionate share hospital payment appeals pending before the PRRB, where a hospital claims additional Medicaid-eligible days that were not included in its filed cost report. Further details, including the information hospitals must submit, are available in the attached alert.
