OSHPD Seismic Compliance Includes New Category for Acute Care Hospitals
Applies to some older, nonconforming buildings

CHA is working collaboratively with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) to notify hospitals about a new structural performance category, SPC-4D, that extends the 2030 seismic compliance deadline for certain noncompliant buildings. Approved by the California Building Standards Commission in December 2015, the SPC-4D regulations become effective Jan. 1, 2017. Guidelines for submitting SPC-4D projects prior to Jan. 1, 2017 and other detailed information about the new category, including the regulations, are available at the dedicated SPC-4D web page on the OSHPD website. In addition, CHA presented a webinar on SPC-4D last year, and a recording of that program is now available.
