The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has issued new frequently asked questions (FAQs) to address stakeholder questions about the information blocking regulations.

The FAQs address certified health information technology, electronic health information, interferences, and the “preventing harm” exception. In November 2020, ONC published an interim final rule that extended the applicability date for information blocking to April 5, 2021.

ONC will host a webinar on Feb. 4 at noon (PT) on the information blocking requirements, FAQs, and to discuss the department’s approach to future information blocking guidance. Registration is required.
