On Monday, CHA issued a media statement about the new statewide Office of Health Care Affordability. The office is part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to limit health care spending across public and private sectors in a broad effort to contain rising costs.

CHA and its member hospitals and health systems are deeply engaged on this issue and are working closely with the administration and lawmakers.

President & CEO Carmela Coyle said, “California hospitals support the creation a new statewide Office of Health Care Affordability, as it advances an important concept for addressing this issue. We know that this work will be extremely difficult — and we know that many pieces must be aligned in order for this effort to be successful.”
