Next Covered California Board Meeting Scheduled for April 7

Covered California will hold its next board meeting in Sacramento on April 7 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., with an open session estimated to begin at noon. The agenda includes a report from Executive Director Peter Lee and Covered California staff on the status of policies and programs. The board will discuss the adoption of the certified application counselors regulations and is scheduled to take action on the 2017 qualified health plan model contract and standard benefit design technical modifications, special enrollment period policies, Section 1332 state innovation waiver initial recommendations, individual eligibility emergency readoption and the Covered California for Small Business appeals permanent regulations.

The board was originally scheduled to take action on the 2017 qualified health plan model contract at its Feb. 18 meeting, but CHA, the California Association of Health Plans and the California Medical Association successfully advocated for the board to delay contract approval to allow for additional stakeholder engagement, given the importance and scope of the proposed changes and new quality initiatives.
