New Version of ‘CURES’ Database Launched for Prescription Drug Monitoring

The Department of Justice and the Department of Consumer Affairs have launched an updated version of the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) for the state’s prescription drug monitoring program. The new version, CURES 2.0, offers improved user experience and added functionalities, including the ability to delegate report queries and new practitioner-identified patient alerts. CURES 1.0 will continue to be available to clinical users for an indeterminate time to facilitate uninterrupted access to CURES data while health care systems upgrade to CURES 2.0 compatible browsers.

Existing CURES users do not need to apply for access to CURES 2.0, and will be able to access the updated database with their current user ID and password. Upon initial login to CURES 2.0, users will be required to update their security questions and answers and re-establish a new password. CHA’s CURES 2.0 Browser Workgroup is actively working with the Department of Justice to enhance hospital adoption of CURES 2.0.
