New Initiative Helps Identify Developmental Delays in Young Children

The U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services recently launched Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive!, a new initiative intended to help families identify and minimize developmental delays in children. With as many as one in four children at risk for a developmental delay or disability, the program aims to raise awareness of child development by encouraging families and providers to look for milestones, promoting universal screenings, identifying delays as early as possible and improving developmental supports. The program offers a number of resources that include a list of screening tools, helpful guides, toolkits and more.
