National Volunteer Week Celebrates Those Who Support Their Communities
Annual recognition event runs from April 10-16

The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week — Celebrate Service — honors individuals who dedicate themselves to bettering their communities. Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week presents an opportunity to celebrate ordinary people who accomplish the extraordinary through volunteer service and who motivate others to follow their lead.

California’s hospital volunteers provide service to patients, families and staff throughout each stage of the continuum of care. A recent video from Ian Morrison, PhD — internationally known author, consultant and speaker specializing in long-term forecasting, with emphasis on health care and the changing business environment —focuses on the role of hospital volunteers in health care’s transformation. Annually, CHA member hospitals engage nearly 100,000 volunteers, and CAHHS Volunteer Services provides education, information and support to these volunteers and their hospital organizations.
