Members Urged to Submit Online Letters Supporting Medi-Cal Funding
State Capitol rally generates 1,000 new letters to legislators

More than 8,000 people - including hospital workers, administrators, volunteers and clinicians - attended one of the largest rallies ever at the State Capitol this week to call on legislators and the Governor to stop a $1 billion cut to Medi-Cal funding. While the rally was very successful in bringing media attention and public awareness to this untenable situation, CHA’s fight to restore Medi-Cal funding is not over. Protecting the nearly 33,000 patients cared for annually in distinct-part skilled-nursing facilities is CHA’s top priority.

CHA’s Caring is our Calling public advocacy campaign continues to release new Medi-Cal budget cut impact videos and collect individual letters to legislators, calling on them to stop the cuts. The online letter-writing campaign secured nearly 1,000 new letters this week during the We Care for California coalition rally in Sacramento, bringing the total number of  letters collected to nearly 2,000.

CHA urges all hospital and health care system workers to continue to add pressure by making their voices heard. Individuals can visit the Caring is our Calling website to complete a simple online process and sign a letter to their legislators supporting restoration of Medi-Cal funding to California’s nearly 100 hospital-based skilled-nursing facilities.
