Medical Board Proposes Amending Regs on Licensee Substance Abuse

As the result of a regulatory hearing last October, the Medical Board of California (MBC) has proposed modifying regulations that establish guidelines for testing, monitoring and restricting the practices of physicians and other licensees with substance use violations. Comments on the proposed changes are due April 18. For information on the specific changes and submitting comments, see attached MBC notice. Once the changes are finalized, all licensees on MBC probation for substance use violations will be subject to the new requirements.
