Measures Under Consideration for Federal Quality Reporting Programs Now Available

Consistent with the administration’s commitment to reduce burden under its Meaningful Measures Initiative, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a narrowed list of 39 measures for future use in federal quality reporting programs, the majority of which are clinician measures under consideration for the Merit Based Incentive Payment System.

The list includes three measures for the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, one for the Outpatient Hospital Quality Reporting Program, one for the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program and two transfer of health information measures across the four post-acute quality reporting programs.

The measures will be reviewed by the National Quality Forum’s Measures Applications Partnership (MAP) in a series of meetings next week. CHA will attend the meetings to provide input. Following the meetings, the MAP will recommend whether CMS should include the measures in future programs.
