MAP Issues Final Pre-Rulemaking Report on Future Federal Quality Measures

The Measures Applications Partnership (MAP) has issued its final pre-rulemaking report to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The report is split into two components: a description of the approach to selecting measures and a sortable, searchable spreadsheet of all recommendations. The report provides strong insight into measures that are likely to be proposed in future federal rulemaking, beginning in April with proposals for fiscal year 2016 Medicare payment rules. The report is the first of three deliverables due to CMS and HHS from the MAP. On Feb. 15 and March 15, the MAP will release strategic guidance on measurement in different federal health programs, as well as analysis of issues that cut across federal programs or public and private programs.
