Labor Department Updates Assist Health Plans With Mental Health Parity Compliance

The Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration has updated its Compliance Assistance Guide – Health Benefits Coverage Under Federal Law, including two sections on mental health parity and the Affordable Care Act. An updated self compliance tool is intended to help group health plans, plan sponsors, plan administrators, health insurance issuers and other parties determine whether a group health plan is in compliance with certain provisions. Another section offers a new set of mental health parity provisions questions and answers.
