Labor Commissioner Revises AB 469 Wage Notice Template and FAQs

The California labor commissioner has revised a template form for employers to use to comply with AB 469, California’s “wage theft” law that went into effect Jan. 1. The revised template, along with revised FAQs, replaces an earlier version that raised many complaints from the employer community. In response to concerns raised by CHA and other stakeholders, the labor commissioner simplified the template and reduced the amount of information required. Employers should immediately begin using the new template, which is attached, or revise their own notice accordingly. The labor commissioner has clarified that employers need not provide new notice to employees hired after Jan. 1, who received notice via the earlier template. For the revised FAQs, go to www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/FAQs-NoticeToEmployee.html.
