Kennedy Forum Calls for Integrating Specialty Behavioral Health Care With Medical System

The Kennedy Forum has released the first in a series of issue briefs on Fixing Behavioral Health Care in America – A National Call for Integrating and Coordinating Specialty Behavioral Health Care with the Medical System. In addition to detailing the incidence of mental health and substance use disorders, the brief recommends wide implementation of the collaborative care model; promotion of evidence-based treatments for patients with both mental health and substance use disorders within the collaborative care model; high priority on integration with primary care; and implementation of ongoing coordination of care.
