IRS Releases ACA Compliance Resources for Large Employers

The Internal Revenue Service has released new resources for large employers relating to compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Two ACA provisions that apply only to applicable large employers (ALEs) are now in effect: the employer shared responsibility provision and the employer information reporting provision for offers of minimum essential coverage. In addition, self-insured ALEs – that is, employers who sponsor self-insured group health plans – have additional provider information reporting requirements. Employers that are ALEs should be taking steps now to prepare for the coming filing season.

The Internal Revenue Service has also released the final versions of two key 2015 forms, with related instructions, that employers and insurers must send to the IRS and individuals in early 2016 to report health care coverage they offered or provided in 2015. The IRS resources may be found at
