HQI to Host Webinar on Community Resources for Perinatal Mental Health
For CEOs and leaders in quality & patient safety, labor & delivery, and behavioral health

As part of  its Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Learning Community, the Hospital Quality Institute will host a webinar from noon to 1 p.m. (PT) on Aug. 20 to discuss development of community referral resources for perinatal mental health.

While hospitals are making strides in staff education and increasingly screening patients for perinatal mental health disorders, it is critical that they have accurate and comprehensive information about post-hospital treatment options and other resources available to the patient in the community. The webinar will review practical steps hospitals can take to compile information about — and connect with — community resources for patient referral.

Registration is free and available here as well as through the program website.

Hospitals that have not yet signed up for the PMH Learning Community can still join this free two-year program aimed at strengthening approaches to mental health during the perinatal period. Participation helps hospitals comply with Assembly Bill 3032, which took effect Jan. 1 and requires educating perinatal employees about maternal mental health conditions. It also requires hospitals to inform postpartum women and families about the signs and symptoms of maternal mental health disorders, post-hospital treatment options, and community resources.
