HQI Executive Completes Board Term With The Joint Commission

Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) President/CEO Julianne Morath, RN, MS, has completed a three-year term as a member of The Joint Commission (TJC) Board of Commissioners. Morath declined to serve a second term, citing the priority to dedicate time and attention to the quality of care in California and development of HQI. During her tenure as a commissioner, Morath served on the Standards Development Committee and Performance Measurement Committee, and chaired the National Nursing Advisory Council – positions where she both applied her expertise in quality and gained valuable experience that will inform her work with HQI.

“Serving on The Joint Commission Board was a privilege and continuous learning experience,” said Morath. “I am appreciative of the opportunity and the ability to have served with such distinguished colleagues, and am delighted now to focus my full energies in California.”

TJC is governed by a 32-member Board of Commissioners that includes physicians, administrators, nurses, employers, a labor representative, quality experts, a consumer advocate and educators. Board members have diverse experience in health care, business and public policy.
