House Passes IMPACT Act to Standardize Post-Acute Care Assessment

The U.S. House this week passed the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014, which would require specified providers to collect and report standardized assessment data as a first step in developing recommendations for alternative post-acute care payment models. The bill was not marked up by any House committee and passed by a voice vote. The Senate has not indicated if it will take up the legislation. As recommended by CHA in comments on the draft legislation, the IMPACT Act would not require inpatient prospective payment system hospitals or critical access and cancer hospitals to report patient assessment data.
