Hospitals Need to Register Medical Telemetry Systems With ASHE

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) continues to deliberate on whether to move Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) from the current dedicated TV Channel 37 to a different wireless band spectrum. As the designated WMTS coordinator, the American Hospital Association’s American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) maintains a database of WMTS users. To inform the FCC, ASHE needs to make sure the database reflects all operating WMTS systems, which are required to be registered with ASHE prior to operation. CHA encourages hospitals to ensure staff have reviewed medical telemetry systems and that all WMTS equipment is registered with ASHE. Registration is quick and easy.
