Hospitals, CAHs Receive Extension of 2014 EHR Attestation Deadline

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced it will extend through Dec. 31 the deadline for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to attest to meaningful use of electronic health records for 2014 under the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. The extension gives hospitals more time to submit their meaningful use data and receive 2014 incentive payments, as well as avoid the 2016 Medicare payment adjustment. In addition, eligible hospitals and CAHs that are electronically submitting clinical quality measures have also been granted an extension for meeting the requirement of meaningful use and the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting program. Hospitals now have until Dec. 31 to submit their data via Quality Net.
