Hospitals in 340B Program Urged to Contact Representatives Before Hearing Next Week

The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Thursday, March 5 to examine the 340B Drug Pricing Program, which requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations at significantly reduced prices. Witnesses from the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Government Accountability Office and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General are scheduled to testify. The hearing will review the functionality of the program to ensure it is meeting its goal of improving access to prescription drugs for needy patients at facilities serving these populations. California hospitals that benefit from the program are urged to contact the Californians on the subcommittee and express their support of the program. California Reps. Doris Matsui (Sacramento area), Lois Capps (Santa Barbara area) and Tony Cardenas (Los Angeles area) are members of the subcommittee.
