Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Program Webinar Thursday
Learn more about providing potentially eligible individuals with on-the-spot Medi-Cal coverage

CHA will partner with the California Department of Health Care Services to conduct a webinar Thursday, June 19, from 10:30 a.m. – noon, offering an overview of the new Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) program. The HPE program offers all hospital Medi-Cal providers, including any clinic on a hospital’s license, a unique opportunity to provide potentially eligible individuals with temporary, full-scope Medi-Cal benefits (restricted scope for pregnant women). Presumptive eligibility is based only on the patient’s self-attested information for three areas — income, household size and state residency — with benefits available for up to two months, and in some cases longer, for newly eligible Medi-Cal patients.

Hospitals that have already applied will hear program updates, find how to check their hospital’s application status to ensure that they are an “active” HPE provider and learn tips to expedite the provider application approval process. A member hospital will also share its experience participating in the HPE program, as well as the importance of the HPE program to hospitals and to the uninsured. CHA encourages members to register now for this important program.
