Hospital Council Announces New President and CEO

The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California Board of Directors announced today that it has selected Bryan J. Bucklew as its next President and CEO. Bucklew will assume the role Oct. 22, replacing Art Sponseller, who announced his retirement earlier this year but will serve as a resource to Bucklew through Dec. 31 to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in leadership.

Currently President and CEO of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA), Bucklew brings with him extensive experience and proven leadership. He has led GDAHA since 2005, where he has been a key voice on a variety of health care issues, including Medicaid reimbursement, mental and behavioral health, prescription drug coordination and substance abuse care. In addition, he co-founded Ascend Clinical Research, a joint venture with three health care systems to develop new technologies and products to improve patient care outcomes.

Under Bucklew’s leadership, GDAHA has received numerous awards, including Non-Profit Organization of the Year and Overall Business of the Year from the Dayton Business Journal.
