Hospital Compare Website to Be Updated This Week

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced yesterday that it will post new measures and updated performance data to the Hospital Compare website. New measures will include hospital performance on stroke and venous thromboembolism care, as well as the rates of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium Difficile infections. CMS also plans to update information on five readmission measures (heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, hip and knee replacement, and hospital-wide readmissions) and one complication measure (hip and knee replacement complications) not previously reported because of issues with calculating performance benchmarks.
