HHS Secretary Sebelius Announces Resignation
President Obama to nominate current OMB director

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced her resignation today, following the end of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) first enrollment period. Sebelius led the agency through the creation and implementation of the ACA. President Obama announced he will nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell, current director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), as his next HHS Secretary. Burwell was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to head OMB last April.
