HHS Finalizes Delay in ICD-10 as Required by PAMA
Compliance date is now Oct. 1, 2015

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has finalized a delay in the implementation of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition (ICD-10) for use in administrative health care transactions, as required by the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014. The attached final rule delays the compliance date for the transition to ICD-10 from Oct. 1, 2014, to Oct. 1, 2015. The rule also requires the continued use of International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification, Volumes 1 and 2 (diagnoses), and 3 (procedures) (ICD-9-CM), including the Official ICD-9-CM Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, through Sept. 30, 2015.
