HealthImpact to Conduct Statewide Survey Exploring Nursing Practice

HealthImpact is conducting a statewide survey to explore how RN students learn nursing diagnoses and how nurses in practice utilize them. As part of the work to define the value of nursing, these topics continue to arise as central to understanding, communicating and carrying out nursing’s unique role and scope. Because nurses have specific responsibility to assess patient responses to health, determine specific evidence-based causes and make decisions about interventions to be carried out, their work is linked to the achievement of certain health outcomes, utilization of health care resources and reduction of future health care costs. HealthImpact will submit one survey to each hospital chief nursing officer and asks that it be completed by a nursing practice or education leader most knowledgeable about how the organization uses nursing diagnosis in practice. Individual hospitals will not be identified, and data will be reported only in aggregate.
