Health Policy Legislative Day Set for March 10-11
Plan now to join fellow hospital leaders in Sacramento

CHA encourages hospital CEOs and government relations executives to participate in Health Policy Legislative Day, the association’s annual state advocacy program.

“2015 promises to be a transformative year for California’s Legislature. With 32 newly elected members and new leadership in both houses, we must continue to forge and strengthen relationships with elected representatives,” said CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner. “I strongly urge all hospital leaders to come to Sacramento and let lawmakers know how their decisions will impact hospitals in their communities.”

CHA has invited Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) and Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) to address hospital executives during the education program on Wednesday, March 11. After the education program, which will also detail CHA’s key legislative priorities, hospital executives will meet with senators and assemblymembers at the State Capitol.

Attendees are invited to attend a Welcome Reception on Tuesday evening, March 10, to kick off the program. Tuesday afternoon will feature a “New Participant Briefing” for members who would like to gain a better understanding of the legislative process and CHA’s advocacy efforts. A special “Team Leader Briefing” will help members designated as team leaders — and others who are interested — prepare for the legislative visits with a review of meeting protocol, issue-specific talking points and “leave behind” materials.

As hospital representatives register for the program, CHA’s advocacy staff will schedule appointments with legislators, with input from the Regional Associations. To facilitate the appointment process, members are strongly encouraged to register no later than the Feb. 13 deadline.

The Sheraton Grand is the host hotel for the program, and a group of discounted rooms is available. Participants can make reservations online or by calling (800) 325-3535. Be sure to mention the “California Hospital Association” to receive the discounted rate of $229 single/double occupancy.
