Three influential health care policy leaders will serve as keynotes for this year’s Behavioral Health Care Symposium, to be held Dec. 9-10 in Huntington Beach. Opening the symposium are Sen. Darrell Steinberg, California Senate President pro Tempore, and CHA President/CEO C. Duane Dauner. Steinberg and Dauner will provide an overview of the current legislative climate and status of mental health policy in California.

The symposium’s closing keynote is former U.S. Sen. Patrick J. Kennedy of Rhode Island. Kennedy, son of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, has a long mental health advocacy history and will reflect on the impact of the 50-year-old Community Mental Health Act and the country’s progress in caring for those with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and addictions.
