Guidelines Published for Treating Neuropsychiatric Syndrome in Children

New guidelines for treating pediatric acute onset neuropsychiatric syndrome have been published in the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. The syndrome of sudden onset obsessive compulsive disorder or severe eating restrictions and associated characteristic cognitive, behavioral or neurological symptoms was first identified in the 1990s. Treatment recommendations, which are published in a three-part series, focus on psychiatric and behavioral interventions, treatment and prevention of infections and immunomodulatory therapies.
