Governor Brown Announces Appointments to State Mental Health Commission

Gov. Brown has announced two new appointments to the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission — Lynne Ashbeck of Clovis and Itai Danovitch of Los Angeles. Ashbeck, who is currently vice president at Community Medical Centers, previously served as a regional vice president at the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California and is a member of the California Patnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors and the Maddy Institute Board of Directors. On the commission, Ashbeck fills the seat as a representative of a health care service plan or insurer. Danovitch, chair of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Psychiatry Department, is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association, and previously served as past president of the California Society of Addiction Medicine. Danovitch fills the seat of a physician specializing in alcohol and drug treatment.

The Governor also announced three re-appointments to the commission: Larry Bruce Poaster of Modesto, who fills the seat of a mental health professional and has served since 2007; Khatera Aslami-Tamplen of Fairfield, who fills the seat representing consumers and has served since 2013; and Tina Wooton of Santa Barbara, who fills another seat representing consumers and has served since 2010.
