For disaster readiness staff

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has developed a comprehensive program, “Earthquake Warning California,” for medical facilities.

The program includes tools and resources designed for hospitals, outpatient centers, long-term care settings, and community clinics to learn about how they can receive warning before shaking is felt. The “Earthquake Warning California” fact sheet is intended to supplement a hospital’s existing emergency preparedness procedures.

Cal OES is urging medical facilities and personnel to help spread the word about the importance of being earthquake prepared, understand the capabilities of “Earthquake Warning California” resources, and know what to do when an earthquake alert is issued. More information and materials are available in the medical facilities and personnel toolkit

In addition, “Earthquake Warning California” provides free tools — the MyShake App, Android Earthquake Alerts, and Wireless Emergency Alerts — to supplement existing resources.
