DOI to Hold Hearing on Essential Health Benefits

The California Department of Insurance is holding a hearing June 22 from 9 a.m. to noon in Sacramento to discuss the selection of an Essential Health Benefits benchmark plan by California. The hearing will provide interested parties with an opportunity to present comments to the insurance commissioner. Information gathered at the hearing will assist the commissioner in developing a recommendation for the Legislature and Governor. The Affordable Care Act requires health plans to offer a comprehensive package of covered items and services known as “Essential Health Benefits.” The federal government has granted each state the authority to choose its benchmark plan from one of several options.
