Discount Deadline Is Aug. 27 for CHA’s Disaster Planning Conference

Next Wednesday, Aug. 27, is the deadline for discounts on tuition and hotel rooms for CHA’s Disaster Planning for California Hospitals conference, set for Sept. 22–24 in Sacramento. After Aug. 27, tuition rates increase by $95. More than 550 people have registered for the conference, the largest gathering of hospital emergency preparedness coordinators in California.

The conference includes a wide range of real hospital disaster experiences, including one hospital’s experience during a six-day water supply disruption, the response to a FedEx bus accident and the recovery from a devastating thousand-year flood. Nineteen different breakout sessions offer something for everyone, including special considerations for pediatric, OB, NICU, dialysis and home health patients; business continuity for rural hospitals and large hospital systems; the EMS patient movement strategy for the Asiana plane crash; changes to the Hospital Incident Command System; and much more. A pre-conference workshop focuses in-depth on preparedness and response to violent threats and events in the hospital.
