Disaster Planning Conference Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for CHA’s 2014 Disaster Planning for California Hospitals conference, scheduled for Sept. 22 – 24 in Sacramento. The ninth annual conference brings together hospital emergency preparedness staff with community responders and officials from state and local agencies to share resources and best practices that ensure continuity of care when faced with an emergency.

“The theme, ‘Get Ready, Stay Ready,’ speaks to the importance of fostering readiness and sustaining resilient hospitals by forming critical partnerships,” said Cheri Hummel, CHA’s vice president, disaster preparedness. “The conference is a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from peers, industry experts and community partners.”

The program will feature keynote speakers and 20 different breakout sessions, including member hospital presentations on lessons learned from actual events. The pre-conference workshop will provide a comprehensive look at training for violent threats in the hospital setting, including considerations for the psychological impact on staff. A detailed agenda will be available in the coming weeks. For updates about the conference and to register, visit
