DHCS Solicits Letters of Intent for Whole Person Care Pilots
Letters due April 8; instructions are attached

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has released the attached instructions for providers who wish to participate in the Whole Person Care (WPC) pilots approved under California’s section 1115(a) demonstration waiver, titled “California’s Medi-Cal 2020 Demonstration.” The WPC pilots are county-based and aim to provide coordinated care for vulnerable, high-utilizing Medicaid members. Their overarching goal is to integrate physical health, behavioral health and social services systems, and they seek to improve beneficiary health and well-being through more efficient and effective use of resources. WPC pilots may also choose to expand access to supportive housing options for these high-risk populations. The waiver renewal authorizes up to $1.5 billion in federal funding over the five–year program; WPC pilot lead entities will provide the non-federal share. Interested hospitals should submit a letter of intent by April 8.
