DHCS Provides Cal MediConnect Updates

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has distributed updated information about the upcoming implementation of Cal MediConnect, including information on enrollment timelines and the Ombuds Program.

Enrollment Timelines
Enrollment strategy and timelines will vary somewhat between counties. Enrollment is scheduled to begin in five counties (Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and San Mateo) in April, and 90-day notices began going out to eligible beneficiaries in those counties this month. A copy of the 90-day notice is attached. In addition, DHCS will conduct a stakeholder advisory group conference call regarding timelines for each county on Jan. 17 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Interested participants should register online.

Ombuds Program 
DHCS also reports that the request for proposal for the Cal MediConnect Ombuds Program will be released in January. Additional information about the program is attached. DHCS will hold a stakeholder advisory group conference call about the program on Jan. 17 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.; registration is available online.
