DHCS to Conduct CCI Stakeholder Call Sept. 17

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will conduct its monthly Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI) stakeholder call Sept. 17 from 10 – 11 a.m. (PT) to provide a CCI enrollment update. DHCS would also like to hear from stakeholders about CCI implementation progress in their counties and will include time for stakeholder questions. Registration is available online.

As of Aug. 1, 117,449 beneficiaries are enrolled in Cal MediConnect. Currently, only Orange County and Santa Clara County residents will be passively enrolled into Cal MediConnect, a process that began in Orange County Aug. 1 and is expected to conclude in July 2016. Beginning Nov. 1, CalOptima will passively enroll beneficiaries residing in long-term care facilities. In Santa Clara County, passive enrollment is ongoing and will conclude in December. Enrollment data is available on the Cal MediConnect dashboard.

In addition, in a July 10 letter, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) offered states an opportunity to extend their dual eligible financial alignment demonstrations by two years. The letter cites the need for more time to evaluate outcomes, including improvements in quality and overall cost savings. On Aug. 26, DHCS submitted a non-binding letter to CMS indicating its potential interest in extending the duals demonstration project. DHCS reports it continues to explore ways to improve the program and to ensure it is delivering on its promise of integrating and improving the quality of care for California’s dually eligible beneficiaries. More information about CCI is available at www.calduals.org.
