DHCS Announces New Chief of Mental Health Services Division

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has announced the appointment of Brenda Grealish as chief of the Mental Health Services Division, effective July 1. As chief, Grealish will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and directing programs and policy for all community mental health services; administration of the Specialty Mental Health Services 1915(b) waiver; development of any amendments to the State Plan or waivers relevant to Medi-Cal funded mental health services; and assuring DHCS compliance with its responsibilities under the Mental Health Services Act. Grealish began her state career with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development and then worked for nearly 10 years in increasingly responsible positions at the Department of Mental Health. Most recently she has served as deputy director at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
