The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has released its Expanding Access to Integrated Care for Dual Eligible Californians proposal for public comment. The proposal outlines the department’s transition plan within the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative, related to discontinuing the Cal MediConnect pilot program at the end of calendar year 2022.

According to the proposal, DHCS will transition from the pilot approach of the Coordinated Care Initiative to standardized mandatory enrollment of dual-eligible individuals into a Medi-Cal managed care plan for Medi-Cal benefits, and integration of long-term care into managed care for all Medi-Cal populations statewide.

Comments on the proposal are due by 5 p.m. (PT) on Jan. 31, 2020, and should be submitted to DHCS at CalAIM@dhcs.ca.gov with the subject line “Expanding Access to Integrated Care for Dual Eligible Californians.”

CHA is in the process of developing comments to DHCS on the larger CalAIM proposal. For more information on CalAIM, visit the website at DHCS CalAIM website.
