Department of Labor Summarizes 2016 Federal Parity Law Enforcement

The Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) has released a fact sheet summarizing its actions during fiscal year 2016 to enforce the federal parity law. According to its report, EBSA closed 330 health investigations over the course of the year, including 191 involving plans that were reviewed for compliance with the law. Of that number, EBSA cited 44 violations for noncompliance; just over half of those violations related to the imposition of lower annual dollar limits.
