Department of Labor Issues Guidance on Parity
Comments on draft model form due Sept. 13

The Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration has issued a new set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) about implementation of the federal parity law, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. The FAQs summarize all guidance issued thus far on the disclosure of plan information necessary for parity compliance testing, and reaffirm that the law applies to eating disorder treatment. In addition, the FAQs request comments on a new draft form designed for participants to use when requesting information from their plan, as required under the 21st Century Cures Act. Comments are due Sept. 13.
