Deadline to Volunteer for ICD-10 End-to-End Testing Extended to Jan. 21
CHA encourages hospitals to participate in testing periods

The deadline to volunteer for the second ICD-10 end-to-end testing period has been extended to Jan. 21, for testing the week of April 26 – May 1 (the previous date was Jan. 9). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently conducted its first round of testing to ensure claims with ICD-10 codes can be successfully submitted to the Medicare fee-for-service claims systems, and that accurate remittance advices are produced. The testing will also ensure that CMS software changes made to support ICD-10 result in appropriately adjudicated claims. Many hospitals have inquired about whether they can use their clearinghouse for testing. It is CHA’s understanding that CMS has allowed for testing by such entities. To volunteer for the sample group, providers should register with Noridian on its website by Jan. 21.

A third opportunity for end-to-end testing will be available during the week of July 20-24. CHA will notify hospitals when the deadline for the July submission period is available. More information is available on the CMS website.
